How do you make a delicious sausage pasta even better? Bake it with cheese! Our casserole pasta recipe is easy to throw together, feeds a big crowd (or a ravenous small one) and will be loved by the whole family. Three types of cheese combined with our Mild Italian Sausages, tomato sauce and fresh basil to create a dish that will soon be one of your favourites!

What You Need

  • 1 package Johnsonville Mild Italian Sausages
  • 1.5 cups tube pasta
  • 3 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1.5 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2.5 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded (divided in half)
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped


  1. Cook sausages according to package instructions and cut into 1/4" coins. Preheat oven to 350F.

  2. Cook pasta according to package insutructions, drain and set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, combine sausage and tomato sauce.

  4. In another medium bowl, combine eggs, ricotta, 1/2 of the mozzarella cheese, parmesan and basil. Add pasta to cheese mixture and toss to coat.

  5. Grease a casserole dish (recommend 13x9"), and layer half the pasta mixture, then half the meat mixture. Repeat layers.

  6. Cover dish with lid or tinfoil and bake for approximately 30 minutes. Remove and sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes.

  7. Let stand for 15 minutes and serve.
