What You Need

  • 1 package Johnsonville Mild Italian Ground Sausage Meat
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil, preference (vegetable, olive, canola etc.)
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups black or kidney beans, drained and rinsed (per preference)
  • 1.75 cups diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 cup green chilies, chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt, to taste
  • 1 tbsp chili powder (per preference)
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
  • sour cream
  • cheddar cheese, shredded


  1. Add cooking oil to pot and select 'saute'. Once oil is sizzling, add sausage, onion and garlic, and cook until meat is cooked through and onions are tender (approximately 10-12 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary before adding remaining ingredients except for green onions, sour cream and cheddar cheese.

  2. Select manual high pressure and let cook for 8 minutes and then use the quick pressure release valve. Once pressure is release, carefully remove the lid (caution, it will be hot!).

  3. Serve chili in bowls and top with chopped green onions, as well as sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese as desired.
