Spicy Mac and Cheese

When the kids are home from school, you’ve got to keep them busy and well-fed! Our Spicy Mac and Cheese does all that and more. Johnsonville Hot Italian Style Sausage Meat brings this classic favourite to the next level by adding a little extra spice to all that cheesy goodness. If you’re really adventurous, add a little extra cumin and cayenne to really make this mac and cheese pop!

What You Need

1 pkg
elbow macaroni
1 jar
Tostitos salsa con queso
1 cup
cheddar cheese, shredded
1
green and red pepper each, chopped fine
1/2 cup
water
1 tsp
ground cumin (or to preference)
1/8 tsp
cayenne pepper (or to preference)

green onions, chopped fine
Preparation
  • Cook sausage meat according to package instructions. Set aside to cool. Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Cook macaroni according to package instructions for al dente pasta.
  • In a large bowl, combine salsa con queso, cheddar cheese, water, peppers, cumin and cayenne. Stir in sausage meat and pasta. Pour into baking dish.
  • Place in oven and bake, covered, for approximately 20 minutes or until heated through. Sprinkle green onions on top of dish and serve.
