Sausage Empanadas

Anyway you fill them, sausage empanadas make a great snack or party appetizer. Filled with spices and sausage-y goodness, you can guarantee there won’t be any leftovers!

What You Need

small onions, chopped
1/8 tsp
ground cumin
1/8 tsp
garlic powder
1/8 tsp
dried oregano
1 tbsp
pimento-stuffed olives, chopped
1 tbsp
raisins, chopped

egg, separated

1 pkg
ready to bake pie crusts
Preparation
  • Add decased sausage to skillet over medium heat.
  • Add onion, cumin, garlic powder and oregano to sausage mixture. Cook until browned.
  • Drain mixture of any excess liquid. Add olives and raisins to the sausage mixture.
  • Beat egg yolk slightly and add to the mixture.
  • Cut crusts into 3-inch circles using a biscuit or cookie cutter.
  • Add 2 teaspoons of sausage mixture into crusts.
  • Pinch dough to seal edges. Wet fingers with water to help pinch.
  • Beat egg white and brush onto of sausage empanadas.
  • Bake at 425°F oven for 15-18 minutes, until browned and serve
